To reach Don Pedro Recreation by air, the Stockton Metropolitan Airport is closest. Or, the San Francisco Bay Area is just a 2-hr. drive west. A man-made water management reservoir, this popular recreational area is frequented by outdoor lovers engaged in boating, water skiing, biking, hiking, fishing, camping, swimming and horseback riding. Located in Sonora, Don Pedro Recreation Area offers solitude, scenery and a full range of services at two marinas located north and south of the lake, on opposite shorelines. Visit Lake Don Pedro Marina and/or Moccasin Point Marina for day-and-houseboat-rentals, fuel, supplies, sundries, apparel and quick meals in on-site cafes at either marina. From here it's easy to explore the region's famous rivers, historic mining and cultural history and renowned wilderness areas including Stanislaus National Forest and Yosemite National Park.
